First grade students are still working hard to finish up all sorts of activities that the end of the year bring! We are finished with our math curriculum but will continue to review concepts because we have A LOT of end of year testing! No more math homework for the year! We will continue with reading groups for two more weeks. Check out what students are learning below! READING I can read words with "oo" sounds (like in book) and inflected endings. I can summarize a story and give details. MATH Review of year skills WRITING I can describe poetry. I can write a personal narrative. If you have any questions please let me know! Is Spring here to stay?! Let's hope!
Check out what students are learning about below. READING I can read words with ow letter combinations and le endings. I can describe the character, setting, and plot of a story. MATH I can add two two-digit numbers to make a new group of 10. I can tell time in half an hour and hour increments. I can identify 3D and 2D shapes. WRITING I can write a Haiku. I can write a personal narrative or response using first, next, and last. UNIT STUDIES I can problem solve using simple machines. I can identify the six simple machines. ROBOTS are are scheduled for April 27th at 1:30-2:30... if any parents have glue guns they would like to bring... please text me and let me know! Have a great week! We have a couple important dates coming up in April. The first graders will have their music performance on April 6th at 2:30 in the MPR! Whoo hoo! Our class will also be building robots on the 27th of April at 1:30! So start saving some of your old boxes, cans, and other items to create a crafty robot!
